OpenAI has officially introduced a new feature called Enhanced Voice Mode with vision for ChatGPT. This feature allows ChatGPT to recognize images directly through the phone’s camera and share the screen, providing a richer interactive experience for users.

Video Mode is currently available for subscribers of the ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team plans. Users can point their phone’s camera at objects or share their computer screen to receive contextually appropriate responses.

To use Video Mode, users simply:

• Tap the voice icon next to the chat bar.

• Select the video icon.

• To share your screen, access it through the three-dot menu.

This feature is useful for tasks such as explaining how to set up a device or finding solutions to complex problems.

Deployment Time:

• Starting deployment: This week for existing users.

• Enterprise and Edu users: Access is expected to be granted in January.

• Unclear regions: Users in the EU, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein still have no specific launch information.

During a demonstration on CNN’s “60 Minutes,” OpenAI President Greg Brockman showcased Video Mode’s capabilities by asking ChatGPT to analyze anatomical drawings of reporter Anderson Cooper. ChatGPT correctly identified body parts, but also made minor errors in a geometry challenge, suggesting there’s still potential for improvement.

In addition, OpenAI launched “Santa Mode,” bringing Santa Claus’s voice to ChatGPT. Users can activate this mode via the snowflake icon in the app, creating a festive atmosphere.

Competitors like Google’s Project Astra are also developing similar real-time video AI features, promising more options for users in the future.
